As children we were always in the parade or spectators. In those days it was Pride Week Parade. As I grew older I participated as a cheerleader and a Westfair Queen contestant (I was Miss Citizenship). This year I had the opportunity and good fortune to be in the parade again. I was amazed at the large number of parade entries/participants and even better how many spectators there were. Very fun to see members of the community celebrating the joys of living in Council Bluffs and supporting their friends and neighbors. Here are some highlights from the parade, compliments of my mother who was the photographer for the day. Looking forward to the parade next year! Awesome job Celebrate CB staff and volunteers the parade and all other events were a great success.
I love Council Bluffs. Having traveled around the world and seen, firsthand, how others live without the basic services and comforts that we do, I am even more appreciative of the strength of my hometown community. To that end, I am committed to ensuring Council Bluffs remains a community residents are proud to call home, want to raise their families in, and are reluctant to leave. I plan to continue current efforts to revitalize the downtown and historic areas; work to improve the quality of life for our children/teens; encourage retention of recent graduates so we keep our best minds and leaders here in Iowa; promote new businesses and growth to give more opportunity to those who chose Council Bluffs as their home; ensure our seniors have quality and necessary facilities; and maintain the current level of public safety that makes Council Bluffs the safe and friendly city it is.
